Elton Launches 3 New Videos for Some of His Biggest Hits

Several different filmmakers have come together to create new official music videos for Elton John.

The filmmakers have made real their own interpretations of some of John’s most famous songs, like “Rocket Man”, “Bennie and the Jets”, and “Tiny Dancer”.

Their involvement was part of a competition called “The Cut”, a chance for upcoming storytellers and filmmakers to create brand new official music videos for John’s hits in honour of the 50th anniversary of his songwriting partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin.

Artists like Iranian filmmaker and refugee Majid Adin (“Rocket Man”), Max Weiland (“Tiny Dancer”), and Jack Whiteley and Laura Brownhill (“Bennie And The Jets”) debuted their videos for some of John’s classic songs on Monday at a special screening at the Cannes Film Festival.

In the video for “Tiny Dancer”, Los Angeles citizens reflect on their lives while driving through the city of angels. The video “Bennie and the Jets” takes a futuristic interpretation on the song with some incredible choreography.

In other Elton John news, the singer shared some of his thoughts on the current generation of artists. “We were before the MTV generation and I’m glad we were because we were real artists,” he said when asked about his thoughts on the current crop of singers.

“The MTV generation brought along a lot of people who were great but a lot of people who just made videos. So a lot of the artistry went out of the music,” he said.
