Elton Britain's Most Charitable Celebrity
The Rocket Man singer gave the majority of the cash through his AIDS foundation in the UK and the US.
Unsurprisingly, Harry Potter author J.K Rowling came second on the list.
The Scottish writer is a vocal supporter of many charities on social media and in 2000 founded the Volant Charitable Trust which aims to raise money to combat social poverty as well as work to provide aid to children, single parent families, and multiple sclerosis research.
She donated over £10 million to charity, including Lumos which she co-founded in 2006 and which is fighting to end the institutionalisation of children.
David Beckham, financial expert Martin Lewis, and Coldplay made up the top five.
Ringo Starr came in at number six after raising £1.6 million through auctions of Beatles memorabilia as well as giving money to the Lotus Foundation which supports small charities ‘aimed at advancing social welfare in diverse areas’.
Some of the items Ringo auctioned off included his Ludwig drum kit, which was used for over 200 performances including recordings of the hit single I Want To Hold Your Hand, and sold for an impressive £1.4 million.
The very first pressing of The Beatles’ critically acclaimed so-called White Album went for nearly £40,000 during the auction.
