Elton Scores His 31st Top Ten Album

There’s good news for Sir Elton John in this week’s chart countdown – after he notched up his 31st top ten album.

Wonderful Crazy Night – which landed at number six – is also the week’s highest new entry, one of seven to make their debut in the countdown.

That puts Sir Elton well ahead of other newcomers by the likes of Foxes – who debuted at 12 – rockers The Cult at 19, DJ Eric Prydz and US rocker Chris Isaak.

However he was deprived of a top five place by the likes of Adele, Justin Bieber and David Bowie who continued to congregate the top five.

Top honours went to Coldplay, whose latest album A Head Full Of Dreams finally reached pole position – giving them their seventh number one album.

The record soared to the top of the charts after the band’s dazzling performance – alongside Beyonce, Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson – at Super Bowl 50 last Sunday night.

Meanwhile, Adele’s giant-killing 25 went back up two places to number two, while David Bowie’s Best Of album fell to three.

Justin Bieber’s Purpose and Bowie’s most recent album Blackstar completed the top five.
