Elton 15th Highest Paid Musician of 2015
The Eagles, who land at #5 on the list, made $73.5 million over the past year, thanks in large part to the 57 concerts they played on their ongoing The History of the Eagles Tour. The group drops a couple of spots from 2014, when they finished in third place on the Forbes tally and earned $100 million.
Fleetwood Mac, who last year welcomed longtime singer/keyboardist Christine McVie back into its lineup, ranks #9 after bringing in $59.5 million. The band’s On with the Show trek included a total of 89 performances during the past year.
Several other well-known veteran artists appear further down on the Forbes list. The Rolling Stones are #11 with earnings of $57.5 million, Elton John finishes in 15th place with $53.5 million, Paul McCartney is #17 with $51.5 million, Foo Fighters land at #24 with $38 million, and Jimmy Buffett, who made a truckload of bucks from his Margaritaville restaurant chain, is #28, with $36 million.
Forbes‘ highest-paid music artist overall for 2015 is pop star Katy Perry, who raked in $135 million, mostly thanks to her long-running Prismatic World Tour.
