Elton Stars in Burberry Christmas Ad
With Halloween season finally over and Christmas just around the corner, Burberry have ignited our festive spirits with the release of their Christmas campaign.
Julie Walters played Billy Elliot’s ballet teacher Mrs Wilkinson in the original film and Sir Elton John wrote the music for Billy Elliot the Musical which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. These images include shots of Romeo Beckham, Naomi Campbell and James Bay.
The young model (whose parents happen to be David and Victoria Beckham, as you might have guessed), who is now serving as a brand ambassador, stars in the exuberant Mario Testino-shot ads, alongside Burberry “family members” Huntington-Whiteley, Naomi Campbell and James Bay.
Directed by Burberry’s Creative Director and CEO, Christopher Bailey, himself, the festive film recreates the opening scene of the iconic British musical to celebrate its 15th anniversary and pays homage with the soundtrack of Cosmic Dancer by T Rex. The all-singing all-dancing campaign is filled with Burberry’s usual Christmas culprits – trench coats, tartan and a huge dash of glamour.
Now the real question is, is Billy Elliot on Netflix? And if the film is anything like it’s Gene Kelly-esque counterpart past year, then we can’t wait to lay eyes on the cheery flick-or get our hands on the jolly new collection, which hits stores today.
This year, a £500,000 donation from Burberry will be split between charities Place2be and the County Durham community foundation. As well as the Beckham clan’s Romeo taking part in his second Christmas ad for the British brand, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s little brother Toby makes his modelling debut alongside his very succesful elder sis.
