Elton Daily Closing on August 22

It is with great sadness that I must announce that EltonDaily.com will no longer be updated from Friday, August 22, 2014.

I have personal life changes that will prevent me from being committed to the maintenance of this site.

Thank you for your support over the last nine years. I have thoroughly enjoyed bringing you all the latest news on Elton and being a part of the growth of this idea.

I hope you have enjoyed my work, as I received no income from this project, the reward for all my time was hearing how much you enjoyed the stories and how convenient it was for fans around the globe to stay informed. The site has seen enormous growth in audience size over the last three years in particular, thank-you to my loyal followers - the site would not exist without you.

I will leave the site operating for your convenience and to access archived news. It will not be updated though. Please see www.eltonjohn.com for all the official news on Elton John.

I know some of you will be sad to see this site die. I would like to offer the chance to a big fan out there that might be interested in running it or taking it off my hands the chance to take over. If you think this could be something you are interested in, please email me: editor@eltondaily.com

Again thanks for your support and understanding.

Much love to you all,

Paul Jelicich

Elton Daily Editor

Wow! I really hate to hear this! But I can understand. I ran one of the first popular 'blogs' about Elton (later to become bluecanoe.net) back in the 90s and at a certain point, the rest of your life takes over. Thank you for all you've done and you will be greatly missed! Would love to see a list of alternatives you'd recommend. I've had you and only one other source in my Feedly account for years.

I was always impressed with the ability of this website to get some tour dates and news stories faster than eltonfan.net or eltonjohn.com. For that reason, I would usually check here first daily before the other two. This website will be missed.

HI Paul,

For long-time readers of your blog (like me), I think it might be useful and a nice way to close the site (or hand over the reigns) for you to publish a brief autobiography focusing on how you came to like Elton. Maybe this would be too personal, but, well, for readers who've followed this blog daily and for years, it would be quite touching to know a bit more about the author. Just a thought. Best wishes, Paul.

With respect to Paul, I must let other readers and viewers know something: I sent a very serious and respectful e-mail to Paul about taking over the blog, and gave a hint as to what I would lean towards creating (mostly continuing what he has done). I was surprised to learn that he has no intentions of giving it up! He told me that he would maintain ownership and would eventually come back on a full time basis. Any changes would have to approved by him. Basically he wants someone else to do the "work" but for him to maintain control....I find that to be misleading to readers. Sorry if this offends anyone

Thanks for your comment Robert. I'm sorry you feel that way. At this stage, I'm unsure of the websites future. I think we had a misunderstanding and I have proven to myself that only I can and should operate this site, if I have the time in my new life to do so.

I didn't mean to upset you, apologies if I did, I have been under an enormous amount of stress at the moment and this site was too much to handle. I really just needed some help as I had no intention of selling the site.

I hope you can see how loved my work is and how hard it is for me to consider throwing away 9 years of work.

Take care of yourself, thanks for your concern.

Paul
