Elton Hosts 'Living in the Shadows' for AIDS 2014
Though HIV/AIDS has killed more than 30 million people since emerging in 1981, the global community is making progress against the epidemic.
The epidemic ultimately can be beaten, musician and AIDS activist Elton John contends, “but only by eradicating its most deadly symptom: stigma.”
A new documentary series from the Voice of America, “AIDS: Living in the Shadows,” examines the impact of stigma in several communities around the world. It’s hosted by Elton John, whose AIDS foundation supports programs on four continents. The documentary premiered at the international AIDS 2014 conference in Melbourne, Australia.
The conference was upset by the death of several delegates who were travelling on board flight MH17 to the conference.
