Bright Light Bright Light Supporting Elton on US Tour & Beyond

Welsh electronic-pop act Bright Light Bright Light will open dates on Elton John's North American tour later this year.

Bright Light Bright Light, the name under which singer and DJ Rod Thomas performs, has already opened several U.K. and European dates for John.

"He took me on the road for some July dates, because that was the time of the release of the album," says Thomas, who released his second album, Life Is Easy, July 8. "Honestly, it has been my dream for so long to come and play places in America and get to see cities that I never get to go to."

John's North American tour begins Sept. 13 in Vancouver, B.C. The first U.S. date comes Sept. 17 at Washington's Spokane Arena and continues through Oct. 6. Thomas will continue supporting dates worldwide for the rest of the year.

"Having his backing made a lot of people listen that might have dismissed me," Thomas says. "It has meant a slightly bigger audience. The album broke into the charts in the U.S. and the U.K., which the last one didn't. For my career, it has definitely opened a lot more doors and broadened my listenership."

Life Is Easy contains a duet with John called I Wish We Were Leaving.

"We haven't played it together, which has been a terrible shame," Thomas says. "The logistics of getting him onstage with me or me onstage with him mean a huge disruption to the normal flow. It's not as simple as it sounds."

The last sentence is hilarious. Elton cannot walk on stage and sing into a microphone because of "logistics".

Agreed! How silly.
