Jack White Collaborates with Elton John on Soundtrack for BBC Miniseries

Elton John has let slip that he recently recorded a song with former White Stripes frontman Jack White and The Diving Board producer T Bone Burnett for a new documentary miniseries for the BBC titled American Epic. Burnett and White are collaborating on the soundtrack to the six-episode program, which profiles blues artists of the 1930s and features contemporary musicians recording on vintage equipment.

While John didn’t give many details about the track he made with White, he did reveal the history behind the equipment they recorded on. “I got to use the original machine from 1934 that Bessie Smith and Louis Armstrong recorded on, and I wrote a special song with Bernie [Taupin], and Jack White played on it,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “So it went straight to analog. That was a lot of fun.”
