Bid on Elton's Trainers
A set of 20 Stan Smith shoes have been designed by the high-profile patrons of art group Platform 6, whose founder, James Tailor, has also persuaded the likes of Boy George and Carl Hopgood to take part in the showcase of lesbian, gay and bisexual art.
“There is so much more to LGB artists than simply their sexuality, but that is what many exhibitions seem to focus on,” he says.
“A lot of the work itself is highly sexualised and falls into a now well-known stereotype.
“The exhibition takes LGB art out of the context of sex. While some of the works displayed may contain nudity, the work itself deals with themes such as non-conformity, identity and vulnerability.”
Exhibition runs at the Bargehouse from September 7-14 2013. Silent auction takes place online from September 4-6. Visit platformsixlondon.com for full details.
