Elton Nominated For Dad of The Year

Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish will compete against soccer star David Beckham and singer Rod Stewart to be named Britain's Dads of the Year.

Sir Elton and Furnish, who welcomed baby Zachary last Christmas (10) with the help of a surrogate mother, are the first gay couple to be shortlisted for the Premier Inn Celebrity Dad of the Year prize.

Australian singer Peter Andre, who took the title last year (10), has also been nominated, along with British pop star Gary Barlow.

A spokesperson for the contest says, "Peter Andre, the reigning champion, has once again made the shortlist so it will be interesting to see if he can become the first dad to win the title two years in a row."

The winner will be determined by public vote and announced on Britain's Father's Day next month (19Jun11).

Elton Will Play Isle of Man - A Tent Was Booked

THE promoters of the upcoming Elton John concert have suggested that the concert will go ahead as planned.

Last week the gig was thrown into doubt when organisers Marshall Arts Ltd said there were "logistical issues" to resolve following the news that the Bay Festival had been cancelled.

Sir Elton John had been due to use the same infrastructure as the acts taking part in the Bay Festival on June 16.

This was publically announced by Bay Festival organisers as the Valhalla Tent. However Kayam the company who have supplied the structure for the last two festivals said no booking for the Valhalla structure, which only they supply, was ever booked.

Despite isleofman.com asking Mr Irving for clarification on this matter he chose not to respond.

But he later told Granada Reports that he had booked a 66 by 104 metre big top tent from another company - Mobile Stadiums - which is called an MT66 but which Mr Irving said he feels he is "quite entitled to call the Valhalla".

It now appears that Marshall Arts Ltd have taken over this booking.

In a statement from the company it said: "The promoters of the Elton John concert would like to dispel current rumours circulating on the Island regarding the status of the forthcoming Elton John concert in Nobles Park on June 16, 2011.

"The erection of the tent is booked to commence during the week of the TT races."

Lievin Concert Cancelled Due to Volcano

The concert at Stade Couvert in Lievin, France scheduled for May 24th has been cancelled.

The stage had been fully set up and was cancelled at the last minute.

The reason given by Elton's French promoter is due to the Iceland Volcano and the ash cloud it created over Northern Europe. It was not safe for Elton to leave England via private jet for France.

"Every time, it is not the will of the artist. We're really sorry but we did everything possible. This time he did not take off, it's true ... "

No word has been given on the status of future concerts as yet.

Ticket holders will receive a full refund from their point of purchase.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Rd Artist Wants Picture Back

An artist who designed the iconic cover for Sir Elton John's album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road has asked the star to return the original picture.

Ian Beck was paid $688 (£430) for his artwork which was used on the sleeve of the classic 1973 record.

He now wants his original piece returned - and he is convinced the Rocket Man is in possession of the picture.

Beck tells Britain's Daily Mail, "I did the cover for Elton's label Rocket Records. Elton loved it and it was a very successful album... I think Elton kept the cover work... So if you are listening, Elton, I would like the Yellow Brick Road back, please, because I created it."

A spokesman for Sir Elton tells the publication, "I have no idea whether Elton has it, but presumably if he does, he paid for it so it is his; £430 was a hell of a lot of money back then. A bit weird, isn't it, to ask for something back 38 years later?"

2nd Hunter Valley Show Requested

ACCOMMODATION across the Hunter is filling up fast and premium tickets have sold out for Sir Elton John's only NSW performance in December at Hope Estate.
The Hunter Valley event is being hailed as a concert phenomenon and one that overshadows any similar event held in wine country.

Michael Hope of Hope Estate said premium ticket sales were the fastest sales he had seen for a concert and when asked about the possibility of a second show, said he planned to nag the concert promoter for a repeat performance.

General admission tickets go on sale on Tuesday and range in price from $119 to $259.

"The pre-sale tickets went absolutely crazy. The interest in this event has just been phenomenal," Mr Hope said.

"I'm very excited as the buzz around this concert is the greatest we have ever had. This will be a great boost for the local economy."

Mr Hope is counting on a 19,000-seat sell-out for the December 3 show.

Executive manager of Hunter Valley Wine Country Tourism Dean Gorddard said the day pre-release tickets went on sale last Monday he had five staff members answering calls continually throughout the day.

"Inquiry locations varied with a lot from Sydney and the rest local and across regional NSW," he said.

Elton Buys Music of Every New Artist Every Tuesday

Glee star Matthew Morrison says that each week he buys up the music of every new artist.

Morrison, 32, who plays a hunky teacher in the hit TV programme, has just released his new album on which he collaborated with Sir Elton, among others. "The only trouble with duetting with Elton John, Sting and Gwyneth Paltrow is like, where do I go from there?" Morrison told the hosts on the US morning show Regis and Kelly.

"It was quite a learning experience. Being in the studio with Elton, he's such a student of music, every Tuesday he buys every single new artist that comes out. He was playing me this guy, Plan B who just came out and... I learned so much from him."

Some of Elton's Classic Outfits On Public View

An exhibition exploring Tommy Nutter and the marketing of Savile Row opens in London on May 20. Housed at The Fashion & Textiles Museum, the exhibition will run until October 22, 2011.

Elton frequently wore Tommy Nutter suits, both on and offstage, notably the black and white 'Night And Day' range for the Wembley Concert in 1984.

Tommy Nutter was a British tailor who was renowned for reinventing the Savile Row suit in the Sixties. Alongside bespoke tailor Edward Sexton, they opened their shop 'Nutters' on Valentines Day, 1969. The opening party was memorable for the guest list, which included Lord Montagu, the Duke of Bedford, Mick and Bianca Jagger, Twiggy, Justin de Villeneuve, Paul McCartney and global tycoons Kerry Packer and Rupert Murdoch.

When Nutters opened in Savile Row, the staid and traditional world of bespoke tailoring entered a new era. Tommy Nutter, with master cutter Edward Sexton, combined up-to-the minute styling with classic techniques to create the brand that set the Row swinging.

The Fashion and Textile Museum is at 83 Bermondsey Street, London SE1 3XF, and is open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am - 6pm. Last admission is 5.15pm.

Elton John Hosts amFAR Benefit in Cannes

CAP D'ANTIBES, France (AP) — Elton John has dedicated an AIDS benefit dinner to the late American actress Elizabeth Taylor, an early pioneer in the fight against the disease.

John has called Taylor a "force of nature" and pledged she'll remain the star-studded charity event's "guiding star." Taylor died in March.

Celebrities from the film and fashion worlds, as well as the realm inhabited by solely by the extremely wealthy, flocked to the amfAR dinner and auction, held Thursday at the Hotel du Cap in the Cap d'Antibes.

A-listers included Sean Penn, Kanye West, Karl Lagerfeld, Kristen Dunst and Cannes Film Festival jury members Uma Thurman and jury president Robert De Niro.

The star-studded event coincided with the prestigious French Riviera cinema showcase.
The international nonprofit organization amfAR is dedicated to the battle against AIDS.

Isle of Man Concert Threatened by Logistics

Although Elton John’s June 16 concert was not part of the Bay Festival event, it was to use the same marquee in Noble’s Park.

Organisers are now facing ‘logistical issues’ and it is therefore uncertain whether the star’s show will now go ahead.

The promoters said: ‘Because both the Elton John concert and the Bay Festival were due to share the same infrastructure in Noble’s Park, there are some logistical issues to resolve to ensure that the concert will go ahead.’

The promoters are working with the government and Douglas Corporation.

Community Culture and Leisure Minister David Cretney MHK said the Villa Marina, with a capacity of just 1,700 had been ruled out, given that Elton John was a sell-out, with ticket sales of between 6,000 and 7,000. Mr Cretney said the Villa Gardens or Noble’s Park were possibilities and a third option was the newly-revamped Bowl.

Tickets for the Elton John concert are due to be dispatched from next week.

Elton is 5th Most Powerful Celebrity

LOS ANGELES -- The men and women on our annual Celebrity 100 list--the most powerful people in the entertainment business this year--earned $4.5 billion over the last 12 months by starring in films, playing basketball, walking the catwalk and more. But they also rose to the top by garnering influence.

These days that means mastering social media. Lady Gaga topples Oprah Winfrey from her No.1 spot on our list, which she's given up for only the third time in seven years. Gaga is there not just because of the $90 million she earned with a monster tour, but also because of her 32 million Facebook fans and 10 million Twitter followers--aka Little Monsters--who helped move 1 million digital downloads of her recent single "Born This Way" in only five days. They're also happy to buy the MAC makeup, Monster headphones and Virgin Mobile phones she features in her videos.

Oprah doesn't fall far though. The daytime talk maven, who earned $290 million last year, comes in second. Winfrey's earnings sank $25 million partially due to a reduced payday at SiriusXM. She still earns big from her syndicated show and from the stars she's spawned, including Dr. Phil (No. 18) Rachael Ray and Dr. Oz. Winfrey's earning power will take a bigger hit next year, when her syndicated show ends and she concentrates all her efforts on the struggling OWN network.

Maybe it would help if Oprah took a lesson from No. 3 Justin Bieber. The Biebs debuts on our list at the tender young age of 17, with $53 million earned over the last 12 months thanks to concerts, music sales and a 3-D documentary movie that grossed $100 million at the global box office. If this were 10 years ago Bieber would still be paying his dues in small clubs and schools, but thanks to the Internet, he's a sensation. His first hit song, "Baby," has been viewed 500 million times, a YouTube record.

Elton Meets With David Cameron

Elton John has met with prime minister David Cameron to discuss the work of his HIV and AIDS charity, the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

The private meeting was held at Downing Street and John also met international development secretary Andrew Mitchell, whose department has worked with the EJAF on projects around the world.

According to the department, the meeting looked at the role of the EJAF and the government’s commitment to tackling HIV rates.

John announced the meeting in March, saying he would discuss how his foundation and the government could work together.

“It is startling that in this day and age the infection rate has gone up so much within gay men. It is something on our agenda and I’m going to be doing that when I come back in May,” he said at the time.

Earlier this year, new figures showed that HIV infections in gay and bisexual men have risen by 70 per cent in the last decade.

In 2001, 1,810 men who have sex with men were diagnosed with the disease. Last year, this had risen to 3,080 in 2010.

Total HIV diagnoses have almost doubled in the last decade from 1,950 in 2001 to 3,780 in 2010, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) figures showed.

Experts estimate that there are 30,000 gay and bisexual men living with HIV in the UK today – although a third of these are thought to be undiagnosed.

Elton John Interviews Lady Gaga in V

Lady Gaga pays homage to Japan for V magazine's Asian issue, where Gaga is featured on the cover. Gaga poses on the cover in a Mugler lingerie bodysuit with three heads, two of which feature her wearing makeup made of metal and sequins.

In the interview, Elton John talks to the star about her career and Japan. "I have such beautiful memories of Japan and its people," she says in the issue (10 percent of profits from which will be donated to the country). "And when the earthquake happened, I knew saying something just wasn't enough. The little monsters have raised over $2 million purchasing these prayers bracelets I made myself. Let's connect cultures from around the world and rebuild this beautiful country."

Not only does the issue feature an interview and photo spread with Gaga, it also features her first-ever column for the fashion magazine. Writing in business-memo form, Gaga opens up about her creative process and her ability to tune into the evolution of a pop-culture meme.

Photos of Lady Gaga in V Magazine.

"Glam culture is ultimately rooted in obsession," she says in the opening lines of the article, "and those of us who are truly devoted and loyal to the lifestyle of glamour are masters of its history. Or, to put it more elegantly, we are librarians. ...

"I myself can look at almost any hemline, silhouette, beadwork or heel architecture and tell you very precisely who designed it first, what French painter they stole it from, how many designers reinvented it after them and what cultural and musical movement parented the birth, death and resurrection of that particular trend," she writes in the lengthy note to her fans.

The singer then goes into great detail about her studies in the world of pop culture, explaining, "An expertise in the vocabulary of fashion, art and pop culture requires a tremendous amount of studying. My studio apartment on the LES, quite similar to many of my hotel suites now (knock on wood), was covered in inspiration," she says. "Everything from vintage books and magazines I found at the Strand on 12th Street to my dad's old Bowie posters to metal records from my best friend Lady Starlight to Aunt Merle's hand-me-down emerald-green designer pumps were sprawled all over the floor about two feet from my bathroom and four inches from my George Foreman Grill."

- MTV

Sir Elton John can add interviewer to his resume after sitting down with good pal Lady Gaga to discuss her fashion inspirations for a new V magazine article.
The Rocket Man, who named Gaga as godmother to his baby son Zachary, quizzed the Poker Face singer about her favourite wardrobe items as she posed for an edgy photoshoot to accompany the piece.

She tells Elton, "I’m mostly inspired by shapes, and using the body to create iconography. Leather culture and high-street punk fashion. I would say perfecto jackets occupy most of my fashion thoughts."

Gaga admits "there are no rules" when it comes to deciding upon her outrageous outfits and she loves nothing better than mixing couture with new custom-made designs from her own creative team, as she did while working on the promo for her new single.

She says, "We were laughing on the set of the Judas video - we had 50 racks of couture and I wore leather, Motorhead panties made of a vintage T-shirt, custom from young designers who are my friends, my own creations, and archive Christian Lacroix from a museum."

Elton Hosting The ARIA's This November...

THE big blank next to Sydney in Elton John's tour schedule looks likely to be filled with a Very Important Performance - as host of the 25th ARIA Awards.

The Rocket Man's fans here were most miffed on Sunday when his November tour was announced minus a show at his favourite venue, the Sydney Entertainment Centre, where he holds the record of 41 concerts.

But industry insiders yesterday cited Sydney's omission in his concert schedule as a sign John may be announced as the host of the 2011 awards, which are expected to be held in November.

He was at the top of ARIA's wishlist to play host as he was the master of ceremonies at the inaugural awards held at the Sheraton Wentworth Hotel in 1987.

He famously warned the well-oiled industry crowd then to keep the ARIAs off television "if you want these awards to stay fun".

"The only reason I agreed to do this is because it's not on television. If, in future years, you keep it like that, I think it means something more because it's much more personal," he said at the time. Those words may have haunted awards organisers last year after the car-crash broadcast which resulted in a ratings disaster for the music industry's night of nights.

But for the 25th anniversary, ARIA will be determined to have a hit with viewers and are negotiating with some of the biggest names here and overseas.

Promoter Michael Chugg hasn't ruled out adding a Sydney concert to the Hope Estate gig on December 3.

Elton announced a 2011 Australian tour over the weekend, scheduled to kick off in Brisbane on November 30, with dates in Melbourne, the NSW Hunter Valley, Adelaide and Perth, but Sydney was nowhere to be seen.

Apparently Elton has played a record number of shows at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, therefore causing it's omission from the tour schedule to bring speculation.

The ARIA Awards are generally held around late November, fitting perfectly with Elton's tour.

Elton Has Audio Problems in Saskatoon

He could have played the spoons, for all they cared.

Eager Elton John fans were clamouring for more as the crocodile rocker played a set chockfull of hits at Credit Union Centre Tuesday night.

The band opened with the eerie Funeral for a Friend, from 1973's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, and the near-capacity crowd sprang to its feet as John took the stage, sporting a black sequined suit adorned with flowers and silver trim and a skull across the back.

Following the third song, Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting), the mic in John's piano gave out briefly.

"Can you hear that," he asked, just before it kicked back in for Madman Across the Water, the title track from his 1971 album.

The song was a highlight of the night, with cool percussion, and soulful backup from his chorus of four female singers.

The song loped along, lizard-like, as John hammered out some jazzy runs on the piano.

John, who hammed it up for the crowd throughout the performance, had a bit of a tantrum early in the set as the mic problems continued, twice knocking over his water in frustration at the end of songs.

Finally the crew came out and replaced the mic, as John stood up, shrugged and smiled.

"Mind you, I beat the s---out of it, so I can't complain," he quipped.

Tiny Dancer and Rocket Man were definite favourites, with the crowd swaying and singing along. They probably milked the end of Rocket Man a bit much - first moving into a funk jam before doing drawn-out series of shots, scatting along 'I'm a rocket man, a rocket man," with heavy delay on the vocals. But the faithful loved it.

After running through an assortment of hits, John played a collection of tracks from his new album The Union, asking for patience from the audience who were raring for the classics.

The Union is a collaboration between John and Leon Russell, who got his start as part of Phil Spector's studio group before forging a career of his own and playing with everyone from Frank Sinatra to Willie Nelson.

John called Russell his biggest influence.

These new tracks evoked a range of emotions, blending elements of soul, honky-tonk and straight-up piano-man balladry.

The first from the Union, called Hey Ahab, featured off-the-charts vocals from one of the backup singers. The woman sang her lungs out.

Another standout from the new songs was the tune Gone to Shiloh, about the U.S. Civil War. The catchy piano hook was anchored by the marching military drum beat.

Not to disappoint the fans, John finished the set with another string of hits, such as Benny and the Jets, The Bitch is Back and Crocodile Rock.

The ticket prices may have been exorbitant, but John did not disappoint. He really seemed to be having a hell of a time, grinning widely throughout.

How could anyone be disappointed with a man who can keep up that level of energy during a set that lasts more than two hours?

Chuggi "Looking Into" Sydney Elton Concert

Elton John fans in Sydney, take a breath - the Rocket Man may end up coming to Sydney after all.

When the music icon announced his Australian tour last Sunday, his show at the Hunter Valley's Hope Estate was billed as “his only appearance in NSW on the tour” with Sydney left out of the loop, much to the dismay of fans.

But promoter Chugg Entertainment have told TMN that possible Sydney dates are now "being looked into but NOTHING is definite".

In a statement sent to TMN, a spokesperson stated: "Elton John has long enjoyed a fruitful history with Sydney and his legions of fans residing there; including breaking records for the number of shows performed in the harbour city. At this point in time due to scheduling constraints and venue availabilities, regrettably Elton John and his band will be unable to perform in Sydney.

"However all parties are looking to find a solution and time window for a Sydney performance in his 2011 Australian Tour."

Currently, Elton John and his band is scheduled to play arena shows in all other capital cities this November/December.

Advance tickets across all seating are available from next Monday (May 16) through visaentertainment.com.au from 10am till Wednesday May 18 with a Visa Credit, Debit or Prepaid card. All other tickets for all shows will available through Ticketek (ph: 132 849) from 9am May 24.

The Sydney Entertainment Centre is reportedly unavailable in December. Stay tuned to see if Acer Arena or Newcastle Entertainment Centre will be booked for Friday December 2.

Elton & David Hosted Party After The Royal Wedding

A miffed Elton John hosted his own party at London’s Ritz hotel for some of those who had been left off the Royal Wedding reception guest list.

As 650 of those invited to the Westminster Abbey ceremony later tucked into champagne and 10,000 canapes at Buckingham Palace, Sir Elton, 64, and partner David Furnish, 48, held their own soiree.

It was dubbed the Not Flippin’ Invited party, in reference to wedding guests who were not part of the celebrations at the Palace.

But despite the lavish surroundings at the Ritz and a supposedly ‘posh’ guest of honour – a heavily pregnant Victoria Beckham, 37 – the party couldn’t outshine the festivities hosted nearby by the Prince of Wales.

‘Elton served up steak and chips. It was hardly a Royal affair,’ says a friend.
‘The Beckhams were among 12 other guests who made up the NFI list.’

Victoria was said to be ‘gutted’ to have missed out on the chance to mingle inside the Palace after flying 5,500 miles from Los Angeles for the one-hour service.

‘To add insult to injury, Victoria had to queue outside the Abbey for an hour beforehand and she didn’t even have an allocated seat, so she had to sit at the back and watch the couple make their vows on one of the TV screens,’ said the friend.

‘The whole affair left a bitter taste because she’s used to being the biggest star in the room and she’s rarely left off a guest list for anything.

‘Elton also wanted the lunch to be an unofficial baby shower for Victoria because she’s decided not to have her baby in Britain.

‘She said this could be the last time she comes home before the baby is born in the summer.

Elton May Perform at the ARIA's

AFTER much speculation, Sir Elton John has finally confirmed an Australian tour for this year.

The flamboyant British singer will play Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday, December 6.

Shows are also scheduled for Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, as well as a winery show in the Hunter Valley.

It will be Sir Elton's 15th Australian tour.

"To draw comparisons with Sir Elton John is impossible," promoter Chugg Entertainment said in a statement.

"Artist, altruistic philanthropist, Grammy, Oscar, Tony and BRIT winner, his many accolades have made him an inimitable force in a career spanning five decades, with his versatility and effortless talent showing no sign of slowing down."

Sir Elton, 64, last toured Australia in 2007, but this trip will be his first as a father, though there is no word on whether the singer's lavish entourage will include partner David Furnish and their four-month-old son, Zachary.

Sir Elton has had a long association with Australia.

He hosted the first ever ARIA Awards at Sydney's then Sheraton Wentworth Hotel in 1987.

And with the event celebrating its 25th year around the time of Sir Elton's tour, industry speculation suggests there's talk of him making an appearance.

"It would be a massive coup," one executive said. "It's perfect timing."

As an artist, Sir Elton has sold more than 250 million albums, with huge global hits including Rocket Man, Candle In The Wind, Your Song, I'm Still Standing and Crocodile Rock.

Sir Elton will juggle the Australian dates with his new three-year residency at Las Vegas, which will give the singer a stable environment to raise Zachary.

He recently signed a deal to play Caesar's Palace until 2014, with his new Million Dollar Piano show kicking off in September.

By the time he wraps up the new residency, he will have spent eight of the past 10 years on the Las Vegas strip.

It's Official - Elton John Confirms Australian Tour!!

ELTON JOHN & HIS BAND
RETURN TO AUSTRALIA THIS SUMMER

“Singing in an unfaltering voice, and projecting an exuberant air, Mr. John behaved more like a master of ceremonies than a guest of honor. His patter between songs was affable enough to defy the dimensions of the arena.”
New York Times

“Elton played and sang awesomely, with gale-force gusto. Lord knows how many times he's performed these songs, but somehow he still manages to sound as if he means every word of them.”
The Telegraph UK

Chugg Entertainment is proud to present the much-lauded return of the one and only Elton John to Australia this summer.

On this, his 15TH tour of Australia, Elton John & His Band will begin the national run of dates on Wednesday 30 November at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre before heading south to the iconic Hunter Valley for a performance under the stars at Hope Estate on Saturday 3 December - in this his only appearance in NSW on the tour. The show then rolls south to Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday 6 December, then onwards to Adelaide for A Night At Coopers Amphitheatre at the Coopers Brewery on Friday 9 December before closing the tour in Perth at Burswood Dome on Sunday 11 December.

To draw comparisons to Sir Elton John is impossible; artist, altruistic philanthropist, Grammy, Oscar, Tony and BRIT winner, his many accolades have made him an inimitable force in a career spanning five decades, with his versatility and effortless talent showing no sign of slowing down.

Acclaimed as one of the world’s greatest living pop icons, Elton’s audience has seen him traverse a career that began in the 1960s when he was a shy singer/songwriter and saw him grow into one of the most successful musicians of all time. His crossovers from classic balladry, soul and disco to country, gospel and rock have often confounded but never disappointed his legion of worldwide fans. As one of the greatest showmen of all time, his spectacular stage shows continue to leave the competition standing still in his wake.

As a humanitarian, Elton is a force for good whose public and private generosity support a staggering number of causes around the world, including establishing the Elton John AIDS Foundation in 1992, and in 1997 raising over $40 million for charity through sales of ‘Candle In The Wind 1997,’ the single released following the death of his friend Diana, Princess of Wales.

Having sold over 250 million albums worldwide - in 1975, one in every fifty albums sold was an Elton John record - and boasting a career that has kept him and his songwriting partner, Bernie Taupin, at the top of the charts for nearly 40 years, his lifework has amalgamated into more than that of just a recording artist. Through a partnership with lyricist Tim Rice came the music for both the feature film and Broadway stage production of ‘The Lion King.’ Elton also wrote the music for the stage production of ‘Billy Elliot: The Musical’ and more recently for the box office smash, ‘Gnomeo & Juliet.’ In 2010, Elton forged a collaboration with long-time musical hero, Leon Russell on the T Bone Burnett produced album, The Union, of which he said of Russell, “When I started he was my idol, mentor and everything I wanted to be as a songwriter.”

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear one of the world’s greatest pop musicians in spectacular form when ROCKET MAN returns to Australia this November/December.

Elton John fans with Visa Credit, Debit or Prepaid cards can gain access to presale tickets through Visa Entertainment.

Advance Elton John tour tickets across all seating categories will be available from 10.00am (local time), Monday 16 May 2011 until 5.00pm (local time), Wednesday 18 May 2011 (or until tickets sell out) at the Visa website.

Eminem is Making a Film on Elton?

All day Tuesday folks were buzzing that Eminem was coming to the Tyson Events Center Tuesday night for the Elton John concert.

If he was there, I didn’t spot him (apparently, he’s making a movie about Sir Elton). And, considering the crowd included a lot of Sioux City’s who’s who, he would have stood out.
Sly and the Family Stone vets were among Elton’s back-up singers (a rousing foursome that could have really worked a religious revival) and longtime drummer Nigel Olsson was one of two percussionists.

Other than those performers, we didn’t see any other celebs.
We did, however, notice how great Sir Elton’s hair looks. Usually, it’s kinda sketchy, but in Sioux City it was stylin’ (could it be our water?). He also had diamond-monogrammed glasses and a Crocodile Rock sequinned jacket. Rings? He only wore one.

An ice bucket near his Yamaha piano was filled a couple of times with tall glasses of water. And when he was done with a particularly long song, he’d walk the stage, work the crowd and smile. At one point, he even bared his belly. He did kicks from the piano bench, pounded the top of it like a percussion instrument and sat on it at one point. And then? Before the encore, he even signed autographs and shook hands.

Before that encore, he also thanked the audience for being so supportive over the years and so welcoming Tuesday night. And the concertgoers were. When he first came out, more cameras started poppin’ than you’d find at a Brangelina sighting. It was like lightning going through the floor. Later, the applause for one song swelled like a wave. There hasn’t been a similar response in all of the Tyson’s history.

Interestingly, folks stood quite a bit during the concert. (Teens — take note. Some of those standing were the same exact people who complained about you standing during a rock or country concert.)

During “Philadelphia Freedom” a beach ball made its way around the audience but it didn’t have the same life as ones at Beach Boy concerts.

And audience members? They wore those boas and hats that were for sale, but they also came with fun glasses and cups that lit.

While the area in front of the stage was pretty clear for most of the concert, it became a little mosh pit near the end. Then, fans pushed forward, started waving their programs and a few lucky ones even got them signed.

An insider who met Elton said he smelled particularly good. (A signature scent, perhaps? Coming to a store near you.)

And most people said they really loved the concert. The drawback? The sound. Many said the concert was too loud. But if you’re a regular at these things, you’ve got to do what I did — invest in professional earplugs. They give you the singer’s voice without the drummer’s thump. They’re wonderful and you don’t suffer the next day.

Prince William & Kate Middleton Danced to Elton's 'Your Song'

PRINCE William and his new bride Kate had their first dance to a cover of Elton John's Your Song at a raucous evening wedding party at Buckingham Palace, newspapers reported on Sunday.

The newlyweds took to the floor to dance to a live performance of the song - a favourite of William's late mother Diana - by British pop starlet Ellie Goulding, according to the News of the World and the Sunday Mirror.
But William reportedly broke off the dance after just 30 seconds to demand that the DJ switch to something faster paced.

After the carefully choreographed splendour of the wedding day, 300 guests of the couple let their hair down at the party which also featured a best man's speech from William's brother Prince Harry.

Harry, 26, teased his 28-year-old brother ceaselessly about his thinning hairline and mocked the newlyweds' official titles of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge by calling them the 'dude and the duchess', the reports said.
He also moved Kate to tears by saying he loved having a sister at last and was so happy at how close they had become, according to the News of the World, which quoted an 'insider'.

Look What Elton John Sent Me!

I recently wrote a personal letter to Sir Elton John expressing my congratulations to him and David on their beautiful baby boy Zachary.

In just over a week I received this personally autographed album cover of "The One" to my home address. It says 'To Paul, With Love, Elton John'

I was absolutely stunned that he would take the time out of his hectic life to go to the effort of signing this for me and mailing it to me in Australia.

Elton, if you ever read this - thank you so much!! You are the most thoughtful and generous celebrity out there! I really appreciate your time and personal touch.
