Elton Wanted for World's Longest Piano

THE owner of the world's longest piano is moving it 200km in a bid to attract the attention of iconic English pianist Sir Elton John, who is on tour in New Zealand.

Adrian Mann is transporting his 7.5m, hand-crafted piano from Timaru to Dunedin, on New Zealand's South Island, after failing in his efforts to get the rocker to come to rural property where it is housed and show off his skills.

The piano, built over four years in a farmer's tractor shed, will be in the lobby of Dunedin's Otago Museum for the next three weeks, with John due to hold a concert in the city on November 25.

Mann told the Timaru Herald he realised it was a long shot that the legendary musician would visit the museum and play the piano, but he hoped John would drop by.
