Elton to Headline Peace Concert at Olympic Stadium

On Peace Day 2008, the United Nations Department for Safety and Security, which monitors security related incidents, recorded a 70% reduction in violent incidents in Afghanistan; it is this recorded reduction in violent incidents that has prompted the call for a Global Truce on Peace Day 2012, what is hoped will be the largest reduction in global violence in recorded history – from violence in our homes, communities and schools, through to armed conflict.

Our show on 21 June 2012 in Derry/Londonderry is the opening event of the London 2012 Festival, and marks the three-month countdown to the Global Truce.

The final show will take place in the Olympic Stadium (venue in final negotiations) on Peace Day 21 September 2012, the day of Global Truce. Elton John will headline and the event will serve as an opportunity to highlight Global Truce activities globally. All shows in conjunction with the Cultural Olympiad will be broadcast around the world.

I don't think it is a coincidence that just like with your recent item on Bernie Taupin's art exhibit, you now have the Peace Concert--both right after another Elton John site.

I wasn't referring to the site now mentioned. And by the Bernie Taupin item, I meant the one about meeting him at the Dallas gallery--which only one EJ site was given the scoop on.
