Elton Takes a Break & Cancels DTE Show

Elton John won’t be playing DTE Energy Music Theatre in September after all.

Promoters announced today that John’s planned Sept. 13 show at the Clarkston venue has been canceled, a month after it was announced. A scheduled ticket sale in June had already been indefinitely postponed.

It was to have been John’s first appearance at the former Pine Knob in more than two decades.

Officials with Palace Sports & Entertainment did not give a reason for the cancellation, saying only that new show details will be released “at a later date.”

A Sept. 16 show in Camden, N.J., has also been canceled, but other John dates that month, including concerts in Indianapolis and Cleveland, are still a go.

John is slated to play a Brazilian stadium concert on Sept. 23 before launching a month-long residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
