Zachary Signed up for Choir School & Eton College
SIR ELTON JOHN is to send baby son Zachary to a prep school that trains the QUEEN's choirboys.
St George's School is in the shadow of Windsor Castle, Berks, not far from the £8.5million country mansion the superstar shares with partner DAVID FURNISH.
It was established by King Edward III in 1348 to provide choristers for St George's Chapel at the castle. PRINCE ANDREW sent his daughter EUGENIE there. And PRINCE EDWARD's daughter Lady Louise Windsor is a current pupil.
A Windsor Castle source said: "It was no surprise when Sir Elton said his first choice of school for Zachary was the royal choir school here.
"It has an incredible music department and staff. All the children play an instrument from the age of about seven - and the piano is the favourite.
"Pupils all learn to sing and become part of the choir, and the best join the 24-boy choristers who sing for the Queen in St George's Chapel."
Rocket Man singer Sir Elton, 63, is friends with the Queen and visits her at Windsor.
He met St George's head Roger Jones to discuss enrolling Zachary, and then visited the school for a private tour on Monday. Zachary - born on Christmas Day to a surrogate mum in the USA - will go to the £7,500-a-year nursery section when he is three.
Pupils stay at the main school up to the age of 13. It costs £18,000 a year to be a boarder but Zachary could also be a day boy.
The source revealed Sir Elton and David, 48, are also putting their son's name down to attend nearby Eton College when he leaves St George's.
