Elton John Wanted for Mission Estate Winery 20th Concert

With the last faint echoes from Sting's Symphonicity performance still in the air the organisers of the Mission Estate Winery Concert are already preparing for next year's big event.

The 20th Mission Concert will be "special" was the promise from Sport and Entertainment director of operations Garry Craft.

"We are talking to someone at the moment," he said. "We are already looking at it."

Asked if that "special" act may be along the lines of Sir Elton John, Mr Craft laughed and said he was one star who was talked about every year for the Mission stage.

He was also the sort of act who would suit the bill quite nicely, Mr Craft added.

He conceded that Sting would be a hard act to follow, both on and off the stage. "He was fantastic to work with - just great. The way he was on stage, that's the way he is. Just a good feeling, good attitude about him."

Mr Craft said Sting had also enjoyed his first visit to Hawke's Bay and was sincere when he told the big Mission crowd "It's nice to be in Hawke's Bay - what a fabulous place."
