Billy Joel Keen to Return to World Tour After Surgery
He's known as the Piano Man - and Billy Joel should soon be back tickling the ivories after a double hip replacement.
The Grammy Award winner had surgery last week to correct a condition he was born with. Model Christie Brinkley, Joel's ex-wife and the mum of his daughter Alexa Ray, said: "He's really coming through with flying colours. He's making it look easy."
Joel, 61, had recently been spotted using a walking stick to get around and went under the knife at a New York hospital.
The musician admitted recently that years of stomping around on stage had taken a toll on his body but that he was looking forward to making his comeback. "This is the longest I've had off in I don't know how long," he said. "I've had fun but I'm ready to start playing again."
The singer of Piano Man and Uptown Girl has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide and last week released Billy Joel: The Hits to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his first solo album. He toured this year and often plays with Elton John.
One of his last outings was at the opening of his own motorcycle showroom in New York, his home city.
