Elton May Visit the Northwood Hills Pub

GLOBAL music phenomenon Elton John is rumoured to be visiting Northwood Hills this Saturday for a plaque unveiling in his honour.
The unveiling will take place at The Northwood Hills pub, in Joel Street – the first venue where the singer is said to have performed professionally.
At the age of 15, he is believed to have become a weekend pianist at the pub, formerly known as the Northwood Hills Hotel, playing Thursday to Sunday nights for £35 per week, plus tips.
Known by the name of 'Reggie', he played songs by Jim Reeves and Ray Charles, as well as numbers he penned himself, while watched by his adoring mother, Sheila, and her boyfriend, Fred.
The Northwood Hills pub is also said to feature on one of the singer's albums.
He is due to take to the stage nearby in Watford on Saturday night.
The Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor David Yarrow, will also be attending the plaque unveiling.
See the Gazette website from Monday for pictures of the event.
