Elton to Stop Touring Red Piano for "a while"
POP legend Sir Elton John has chosen Liverpool for the final UK destination of his Las Vegas Show, The Red Piano.
Sir Elton John is letting the sun go down on his five-year show at the ECHO arena on October 28.
It will be his second stop at the city in 12 months. He last performed in Liverpool as part of his seven-date UK tour.
Sir Elton said: “This will be the last time for a while that we tour the Red Piano.
"We really enjoyed playing to Liverpool last December, the reaction from the audience and the musical history of the city has left us in no doubt the ECHO arena had to be the last venue we played in the UK.”
The Red Piano began in 2004, ran for more than 240 performances in Vegas and has toured the world.
The David LaChapelle-designed show features the musician and his band performing hits including Rocket Man, Yellow Brick Road and Candle In The Wind.
The show will be recorded and made available on CD on the night.
Confirmed as special guest for the shows is singer, songwriter and guitarist Teddy Thompson, whose latest album A Piece Of What You Need hit the UK top 10 last year.
David LaChapelle said: “The show is a visual extravaganza, a collage of all the outrageous and beautiful images Elton has been responsible for in his career.
“Elton has had a lot of fun. There were some sad parts in his life, but when he’s on that stage I think he loves it. This was a way of showing that love of performing and pay tribute to it”.
Tickets are on sale now.
