Elton John coming to Columbia

Word might have already slipped out to some of you, but the University of Missouri made it official today: Elton John will be performing Oct. 5 at Mizzou Arena.

"We are extremely excited and honored to host an artist of the caliber of Elton John," MU associate athletic director Tim Hickman said in a release this morning. "This will be the largest concert we have ever hosted in our arena and the largest to come to Columbia since the Rolling Stones performed at Faurot Field in 1994."

Reserved tickets for Sir Elton will go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday and cost $87 (floor, most of the lower bowl), $67 (most of the upper bowl) and $47 (extreme sides, other limited views), Hickman said over the phone this morning. They will be available at the Mizzou Arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, www.ticketmaster.com and by phone at (866) 646-8849.

Check out this afternoon's Tribune for a brief with a bit more information on the arrival of the Rocket Man in Mid-Missouri.
